Invitations

Tradition

The traditional style of invitation is approximately 8 x 6 inches as a portrait folded card with details on the outer front page. Writing would be in black script on a cream or white heavy card. Invitations are traditionally sent out six weeks prior to the wedding date however for peace of mind and managing numbers many couples feel happier sending them in advance of this.

More contemporary Invitations can incorporate the style and theme of the wedding in the material they are made of and the colour they or the text are printed in. If you aren’t keen on the traditional format there is a wealth of options available to you, think coloured card, coloured text, square cards, opening cards, hand drawn designs, perspex, fabrics…click here for our Pinterest board with some interesting designs.

Whether staying traditional or not, the invitation should include the following details:

• Who is inviting the guest
• The name of the couple
• Date
• Time
• Location (i.e church)
• Second Location if applicable (i.e reception venue)
• RSVP address
• Dress Code if applicable (N.B for traditional weddings this is not required)
